The Struggle Is Real
Writing isn't always easy!
I like to think it is, but I also don't like lying to myself. There are times when I sit down at my computer, open up my current work in progress or even this blog, and just stare at the screen not knowing what words to put next.
Now don't get me wrong, there are times when I sit down and the words just flow. Lots of words, which turn into sentences, paragraphs, pages, chapters. At times the writing is easy. Most times it is not.
As I craft my next page in my novel I pray fervently that God will use me to share words which will bring people closer to Him. Through my fiction novels, I strive to show what life is like, with and without God by our side. The struggles, the fears, the joy, the triumphs... but that process looks different day to day.
Sometimes the words simply refuse to come. At times they come in fits and bursts, sometimes sections or chapters are written out of order. There are times when the scene I am striving to put to paper is so emotional that seeing past my own tears proves impossible.
But it's all worth it in the end. When I come to the end of a new book, and I have a fully crafted, carefully re-read, and a meticulously edited novel that I can be proud of. That feeling is indescribable.
My goal is to practice the words of this verse:
If that means it takes an extra few days, weeks, or months to finish a novel then so be it. Because I strive to do everything to God's glory, and I let Him guide my hands as I write.

Colossians 3:23
“And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;”
If that means it takes an extra few days, weeks, or months to finish a novel then so be it. Because I strive to do everything to God's glory, and I let Him guide my hands as I write.
